Historic strike again! Ronaldo hits 960th career goal as Al Nassr climb to second
Cristiano Ronaldo once again proved that age is merely a number as he found the net for the 960th time in his professional career, inspiring Al Nassr to a vital 2-1 victory away at Damac. The result not only reinforced Ronaldo’s extraordinary longevity but also helped Al Nassr reclaim second place in the Saudi Pro League standings.
Facing a Damac side rooted to the bottom of the table, Al Nassr approached the match with confidence and control. Their dominance was evident early on, as they dictated possession and tempo from the opening minutes. That superiority paid off quickly when Abdulrahman Ghareeb struck in the fifth minute, giving the visitors an early lead and setting the tone for the contest.
Despite the advantage, Al Nassr were aware that the game was far from finished. Damac defended deep and waited for moments to counter, forcing the visitors to remain patient. As has so often been the case throughout his career, Ronaldo emerged as the decisive figure when his team needed clarity in the final third.
Shortly after the break, the Portuguese forward timed his run perfectly to beat the offside trap before firing a sharp shot from a narrow angle. The goalkeeper managed to get a touch, but the power and precision of the effort proved too much to stop. The goal doubled Al Nassr’s lead and marked Ronaldo’s 16th league strike of the season, keeping him comfortably at the top of the scoring charts.
Beyond the headline number, Ronaldo’s influence extended well beyond his goal. He constantly linked play, pulled defenders out of position, and created space for teammates to exploit. On another night, his tally could have been even higher, were it not for several strong saves that denied him earlier in the match.
Damac did manage to pull one goal back in the 68th minute, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. However, Al Nassr showed composure and experience in the closing stages, seeing out the match without surrendering their advantage.
The win moves Al Nassr to 37 points after 16 matches, edging them ahead of Al Ahli on goal difference and narrowing the gap to league leaders Al Hilal to just four points. For Ronaldo, the focus remains clear. With 960 goals now to his name, the pursuit of the mythical 1,000-goal milestone feels increasingly realistic, even as he approaches his 41st birthday.
